HostSearch began in October 1997. At that time, it was very difficult to find a website containing accurate information about web hosting. HostSearch was built to be a non-biased information center for people shopping for web hosting services. Information of each web host is kept in our database and is available to all visitors through searching. The idea of searching for a web host by 'price' and 'disk space' was introduced by HostSearch and has now become the standard for searching for a web host.

HostSearch has grown steadily since its beginning in 1997. New sections have been added to make HostSearch bigger and better. For example, we introduced a review section that allows visitors to read and write reviews of web hosts. We also cooperated with web hosts and have asked them to provide special promotions for HostSearch visitors through HostSearch's Discount Zone. The idea of review section and discount zone section was later used on many web host directory sites. We are proud to be No 1 resource of web hosting.

To celebrate our 2nd anniversary, we've launched a new design of HostSearch on December 13, 1999.

Agreement with LinkExchange (now terminated)
HostSearch entered into an agreement with MSN LinkExchange to provide LinkExchange members with an easy and effective way to find a web host. HostSearch's search tools and the information of web hosting providers in HostSearch database were made available to LinkExchange members on the LinkExchange web site. HostSearch's search capabilities is available for LinkExchange users at http://www.linkexchange.com/webhosting/index.html (link no longer available)
